PDF editor browser support and known limitations
This page lists what RedactNinja PDF has been tested with and where its tools have limits. Read it before you rely on a tool for important work. Files are processed in the browser on your device and are not uploaded.
Browsers and devices
RedactNinja PDF is tested in desktop Chrome and Microsoft Edge. Firefox and Safari are not yet tested. The layout has been checked at mobile widths, but processing documents on phones and tablets is not fully tested. Try a small fictional document first on the device you plan to use.
Accessibility
The editor and its dialogs can be used with a keyboard. Dialogs have accessible names, close with Escape and return focus to where you were. Testing with screen readers is not complete, and we do not claim full WCAG conformance.
Office conversions
Word, Excel and PowerPoint files created by the editor are checked by inspecting the files themselves. They have not been visually compared in Microsoft Office or LibreOffice. Open each converted file in the application you will use and check it before you share it.
Known limitations by area

| Editing original content | Text is replaced one line at a time in the original font. Nested, clipped or transparent content, and full paragraph reflow, are not supported. Signed PDFs and interactive forms cannot be edited this way. |
| Added text | Formatting applies to the whole text box. Liberation Sans covers accented Latin, Greek and Cyrillic characters but not every script. |
| OCR | Six languages, with up to two at once. Difficult scans, handwriting and mixed text directions need careful checking. An existing text layer can only be replaced by rebuilding the document as images. |
| Forms | A complete standard form can be reordered. Merging, duplicating or selecting only some form pages needs a flattened copy first. Some scripted or unusual forms are not supported. |
| Compression | Only standard RGB and greyscale JPEG images are reduced. Other images stay as they are. |
| Signatures | Trust and revocation are checked only against certificates and CRLs you supply. OCSP, trusted timestamps and full-chain revocation are not checked. |
| Repair | Damaged structure can be rebuilt where it is recoverable. Missing content cannot be recreated. |
| PDF/A | Creates a PDF/A-2b candidate for supported PDFs only. Conformance must be checked with an independent validator. |
Size and time limits

When a tool stops or you cancel it, no incomplete file is downloaded. Try again with fewer pages or a smaller file.
